Five people were left stranded after all of their belongings were destroyed in a fire in Rooikoppen on 27 August.
The men, living in shacks behind a RDP house, suspect that someone started the fire behind one of their shacks with the intention of killing them.
According to Mr Mduduzi Sibeko, one of the tenants, the person who started the fire locked the door from the outside so that they could not get out.

“When I woke up and realised that the shack was on fire, I could not open the door,” Mr Sibeko said.
Mr Sibeko and his roommate managed to break free and Sibeko was treated for smoke inhalation at the Standerton Hospital.
According to him, he did not see anything suspicious when he returned from a tavern earlier that evening.
