Body recovered in river

Police say it is suspicious that the body could not be found for about three days and that the suspect is the brother of the deceased’s girlfriend.

eMZINONI – The body of a man who was allegedly hit by a car, was recovered in a river three days after an accident on the road to Standerton.

He was apparently with his girlfriend when the car hit him

The police said the girlfriend told them they were drunk and that the deceased was sleepwalking.

However upon investigation, the police discovered that the owner of the car that hit the deceased, belongs to the brother of the deceased’s girlfriend.

He was arrested and a case of culpable homicide was opened against him and his car was confiscated.

Const Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said the police are investigating the death.

“We are waiting for the post mortem results that will help us establish the cause of death.

“It is very suspicious that the body could not be found for about three days and that the suspect is the brother of the deceased’s girlfriend.”

He will appear in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court.
