GMM appoints acting Municipal Manager
Mr Mmela Mahlangu’s term as Municipal Manager has expired.
SECUNDA – Govan Mbeki Municipality appointed Mr Ernest Michele, regional manager of Region 2, as the acting municipal manager during an extraordinary council meeting on Friday, 17 February.
His appointment was subsequent to the expiry of the contract of employment of Mr Mmela Mahlangu, whose contract expired on 16 January and was extended until 16 February.
Mr Michele will be acting as accounting officer for a period not exceeding three months as per the council resolution.
The acting municipal manager delegates the powers and functions of the accounting officer as outlined in the Municipal Systems Act.
Mr Bheki Kubheka, municipal spokesman, said the public and all stakeholders of the municipality must address all communications to the municipality for the attention of Mr ME Michele as acting municipal manager until further notice.
