No solution yet for revamping problems at Bethal Hospital
Unemployed youths and members of the forum stopped the R560-m revamping of the Bethal Hospital on 9 January.
BETHAL – Locals and the Bethal Business Forum said instead of Clear Choice Builders, the main contractor of the revamping of Bethal Hospital, coming up with solutions to their problems, they are devising tactics to intimidate them.
The contractor apparently obtained a court order that restrains the public and members of the forum from going near the hospital.
However they said they do not take the court order serious and believe it is fake.
They have vowed to continue with their fight until their grievances are heard.
Unemployed youths and members of the forum stopped the R560-m revamping of the Bethal Hospital on 9 January.
They allege the project is not empowering locals and the main contractor is not adhering to the service level agreement.
They want the steering committee disbanded and the community liaison officer fired, because they apparently did not represent the interest of the community and are serving their own interests.

Mr Thando Zwane, chairman of the forum, said they will not give up, no matter what they might go through.
He said they are fighting for the development of their township.
“We have had several meetings with the contractor, but it seems as though we do not find solutions.
“They shocked us with their countless lies during a recent meeting, but we will take this further.”
Mr Zwane said they intend to apply for a legal march during which they will mobilise the whole community to join them.
The project was launched by Mr Gillion Mashego, MEC of the Department of Health, in November and the anticipated completion date is 10 September 2019.
