BREAKING NEWS: Man’s body found in quarry near Robertsdrift Road

The Standerton Police are currently on the scene and awaiting the arrival of divers from the Middelburg Diving Squad to recover the body.

The body of the man has finally been removed and loaded into the pathology van.

According to our journalist on the scene, Ms Senamile Phungula, the depth of the quarry in which the man’s body was located, is about 10m deep.

Local firefighters have been called in and just arrived on the scene to assist with the removal of the body.

 

UPDATE: 4 April 2017 – 2.45pm

Divers have just recovered the man’s body, and removed it from the water, however it seems as though it is proving quite the challenge to remove the body from the quarry.

The identity of the man is still unknown and forensic personnel just arrived at the scene.

According to police they also found clothing next to the quarry which they suspect might belong to the deceased.

A man’s body was found in a quarry filled with water near the Robertsdrift Road moments ago.

The Standerton Police are currently on the scene and awaiting the arrival of divers from the Middelburg Diving Squad to recover the body.
