Transgressors will find Magistrate Mbuli, who has been presiding over the Standerton Magistrate’s Court since 2002, no walkover.
She has proved her mettle in administering justice under the watchful eye of spectators.
Born Johanna Senzani Ngwenya in the village of Moutse in Dennilton in 1972, she is the last of eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters and now mother of two sons and two grandchildren.
She began her schooling at Morwathebe Primary School.
“I think I was a well-behaved child at home and loved school a lot because I was always number one academically.
“I would always cry when I did not achieve first position in class.”
According to her, they were a close family with her parents prioritising education.
She wanted to become a teacher initially, but the family moved to Kwamhlanga in Mpmalanga because of the 1976-uprising and she attended Vezubuhle Secondary School.
Her love of the law began when her English teacher asked her to join the debate team.
