Vusi speaks up against cyber bullying

Mr Secunda Mall says be a buddy, not a bully.

Be a buddy, not a bully.

This is the motto of the 21-year-old Mr Vusi Nzima who is taking a stand against cyber bullying.

Mr Nzima launched an awareness campaign about cyber bullying after several Facebook pages were allegedly exposing people’s private lives.

The pages are eMbalenhle Confessions, Leandra Confessions and Kinross Confessions.

Mr Nzima said the administrator of these pages is gambling with people’s lives and is tarnishing their image.

“Cyber bullying is not alright and if we do not take this serious, we will lose lives. The things that are posted on these groups, are personal and can negatively affect the victims. We are calling on those who are involved, to stop before it gets out of hand.”

Mr Nzima will mobilise his peers who are sharing the same sentiments, to rally against this abuse and he hopes the police will investigate the matter.

He said he cannot sit still and be quiet while the youth of eMbalenhle are being abused and misled into oblivion by narrow-minded people.

“We must not be cowards, we must stand up and defend our future. We hope even our parents, teachers, social workers and everybody will join us in this fight.”

Mr Nzima said the youth have been victimised into skipping school, to have low self esteems and some have health problems, such as depression.

He said the Internet and social media should be used as tools to help the youth to reach out to the world and to socialise.

Mr Nzima is a local model and is currently Mr Secunda Mall.

He is involved in various community projects and also owns a modelling agency.
