Women must unite and take their rightful place in society, says organiser
Women of all ages from all spheres of life attend Build a Woman event.
Though Mona Monyane, an actor, could not make it to the second annual Build a Woman event in eMbalenhle due to ill health, local women still decided to get together.
The event, hosted by Ms Forgiveness Mokalapa, was held at House of Praise Tabernacle on Saturday, 21 October and was attended by women of all ages from all spheres of life.
Ms Mokalapa was pleased that the event was a success and is looking forward to the next one.
“There is a huge need for such events and it is good for women to have conversations together at the end of the event, exchanging numbers and taking photos of each other. I believe once you are self-aware, the need to compete or hate ends.
“It is time that women unite and take their rightful place in society.
“We can only achieve that if we gather regularly and talk about what affects us.
“I would not have been able to do it alone. I am grateful to God for the courage and confidence, the support I get and the family I have. I thank everyone who invested in the event by paying to attend.
“It says a lot about the kind of people you are. When we take time to attend these kinds of events, it means we are ready to turn our lives around and to be the greatest versions of ourselves.”
Ms Mokalapa thanked the programme director, Zakithi Makhaye, and the speakers, Mr Ntokozo Mwelase, Ms Lucia Manthata, Ms Zinhle Yende and Ms Mamosa Phatang.
“Thank you for feeding our souls and for sharing your inspirational stories with us.
“It takes great courage to be able to stand in front of people and talk about where you have been and the challenges you had come accross.”
