Khuthala Environmental Care Group demands rehabilitation of mines

The group helps families of victims and are using any means necessary to spread the message and get the Department of Mineral Affairs to begin rehabilitating old mines.

The Khuthala Environmental Care Group (KECG) is turning illegal dumping sites into community parks.

The group came into existence in 2000 when a group of young men from Wesselton decided to clean up the township.

Khuthala, meaning be industrious, was born to encourage community members, especially the youth, to be aware and take care of the environment.

Beginning with eight members, it has since doubled to 16 with many branching out to form their own groups.
