Women’s Day was celebrated in the form of a round table discussion during which Const Thomas Mogadime, the Men for Change champion in the Secunda cluster, read the poem “The beauty of a woman”.

He said the purpose of the event was to inform women about how to handle domestic violence and gender-based violence at home and at work.

Const Mogadime encouraged women and men to unite in the fight against crime.

He said he is concerned about men who do not report domestic violence to the police.

“Men can also be victims of domestic violence, but they do not want to report it to the police,” he said.

The Women’s Network champion in the Secunda cluster, Const Cynthia Mtshweni, encouraged people to break the silence on domestic violence. She said all sexual offences must be reported to the police.

Ms Nomsa Thongo, chaplain from the Department of Correctional Services Employee Health and Wellness (EHW), emphasised that members should trust in the Lord at all times as God is pleased when His people meet for His glory in harmony.

“When God is pleased, He commands and releases a blessing to the people who are in harmony.”

She encouraged members to make use of the EHW’s services in order for everyone to have a great working environment.

Ms Thandaza Radebe from Fit n Safe Aerobics advised women to do aerobics because it helps to reduce stress.

“Also eat right and drink lots of water to be healthy,” she said.

The station commander of Bethal SAPS, Lt Col Petrus Nzima, thanked Const Mogadime for hosting the event, as well as everyone for honouring the invitations by attending the event.

He also thanked Super Save Supermarket for being part of the event.
