British journalist visits Standerton to talk to Muslim community about Syrian imprisoned women

While imprisoned, she feared severe punishment, but was released after 10 days when promising to read about Islam.

British journalist, Ms Yvonne Ridley, who was arrested by the Taliban after entering Afghanistan illegally, talked to the Muslim community in Standerton on 16 April as part of a nationwide tour.

She and two other women, Ms Zeenat Adam and Ms Shamshaad Sayed, gave a talk about the conditions that women in Syrian prisons go through.

Ms Ridley thanked the Standerton community for being involved in the event.
