eMBALENHLE – The Engin garage was robbed in the early hours of Monday, 23 July.
According to police, it was business as usual when a man confronted a petrol attendant and pointed a fire arm at him.
He allegedly instructed him to go the kiosk. He then pointed the firearm to his head and demanded that those inside should open or he will shoot him.
They opened the shop and the suspect then instructed everybody to get inside and lie down, including the customers.
Cpt Busi Mthethwa, police spokesman, said as the suspect was busy in the shop, about eight other suspects came into the shop carrying digging tools (picks).
“It is believed that they use the picks to take out the safe.
“They took a bakkie from one of the customers and loaded the safe on it and it is alleged that they also stole a 15 seater sprinter which they used as a get away car.
“Both vehicles were found abandoned in eMbalenhle.”
Am undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
No one has been arrested.
