Bethal residents help woman after fire destroys room in eMzinoni
Mam Jessi and DA councillor thank good Samaritans for donations.
eMZINONI – Good Samaritans have donated various items, including a bed, to Mam Jessi whose room burned down earlier today, 1 August.
Mam Jessi was at work when she received a call that her house was on fire.
The fire had already destroyed her room, but the fire was extinguished before it could spread to other parts of the house.
She lives with her three grandchildren, an 18-year-old boy and two girls, aged six and 10.
According to Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA councillor of Ward 28, Bethal/eMzinoni, Mam Jessi collapsed when she saw that her room was destroyed in the fire.
Ms Fourie asked for residents’ help on social media platforms.
This resulted in groceries, a bed and clothes being donated and people have pledged to take other items tomorrow.
Ms Fourie thanked everybody for their donations.
