BETHAL – Christine Chauke (50) was sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment for fraud in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court.
This came after she went to a store in Bethal on 28 June to activate an account with a fraudulent identity document.
The cashier realised the identity document was fraudulent and informed the manager.
The police were summoned and on arrival found Chauke with the manager who informed the police of the incident.
Chauke was arrested and appeared in Bethal Magistrate’s Court several times.
She was found guilty of fraud and was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
