Wind spurs on raging veld fire between Sasol and Secunda residential area

SECUNDA – A veld fire is raging through the field and bush area between Sasol and Sechnda’s residential area this afternoon, 7 August.
A vast part of Sasol’s nature area burned as the fire spanned the field from behind Marietjie School to Charlie 5 gate.
Firefighters, emergency workers and volunteers are pitching in to get the flames under control.
Some volunteers mentioned that the fire allegedly ignited when a grass mower caught alight and that the people operating the machinery could not yet be found. This, however, is still unconfirmed.
A resident warned people on social media to drive carefully in Selati, Bainskloof and Constantia streets as a pig are running in those streets trying to escape the smoke of the veld fire.
This antelope is in the middle of the veld fire and battles to escape, people are currently trying to help him.
