People are advised against buying land in eNkomeni

‘This is eNkomeni - a very dangerous place. If they say they will kill you in this place, they mean it’

Sakhisizwe Communal Property Association beneficiaries (Evander) are concerned over the illegal selling of stands in eNkomeni.

They said they are worried that people are being robbed by those who are selling the stands.

The more othan 342 hectares of land belong to 48 beneficiaries who applied for this land in 1998 and they acquired the title deed in 2002.

They have opened a case of land invasion at the Evander Police Station.

The villagers said they do not have the guts to confront those who are allegedly implicated in the selling of the stands, because they fear for their lives.

“This is eNkomeni – a very dangerous place. We have been receiving death threats regarding this matter. If they say they will kill you in this place, they mean it.

“Hence we decided to let the law take its course. People are building on top of mine boreholes which are very dangerous and their homes might sink. We use that portion of land for grazing.”

The villagers said they wanted to warn the public that stands are not for sale in the area and that if they have bought land there, they must claim their money back otherwise they will lose it.

They vowed to do anything for this alleged criminal activity to come to an end.

More than 100 stands have been allegedly sold in the area.

The newspaper visited the area, but the villagers were not willing to speak to the media.

They were building shacks and some were building permanent structures.

Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, police spokesman, confirmed that a case of fraud was opened.
