Highveld Ridge SPCA is not done yet

The Highveld Ridge SPCA now also has a new committee with only a handful of dedicated volunteers working extremely hard to raise money for the kennels' upkeep and to keep the ship afloat.

EVANDER – The Highveld Ridge SPCA is still operating and is ready to help animals in need.

Although several things have changed in a rapid time frame, their core function remains – namely animal welfare.

The finances of the Highveld Ridge SPCA is still very much a case of surviving day to day.

The women who work at the offices and kennels are doing so on a voluntary basis without any compensation. They used to be full-time employees.

Mr Jabu Nyaweni is now the only inspector and is employed by the NSPCA.

The former senior inspector, Ms Jenneth Geel resigned to take care of her very ill husband.

The Highveld Ridge SPCA now also has a new committee with only a handful of dedicated volunteers working extremely hard to raise money for the kennels’ upkeep and to keep the ship afloat.

The new committee is being assisted by members from the NSPCA.

Mr Nick Strydom is the new chairman. He is working closely with his team and wants to be involved as much as possible with the daily operations of the SPCA.

There is also a group that concentrates mainly on fundraising and visibility.

“The committee applauds Ms Geel for her dedication and her unselfish work for the animals. Her expertise will be greatly missed, ” said Mr Strydom.

The new team has embarked on numerous awareness projects and fundraisers.

“We appreciate every gesture and all the support. Please continue. We need everyone’s help,” said Mr Strydom.

The latest project is to collect paint to be used by the local artists, Louis Trichardt and Francois Erasmus, to turn the SPCA buildings into an artwork.
