Locals fight against police for doing their job

A man was arrested for public drinking

eMZINONI – eMzinoni police have condemned community members who attack police whenever their friends or relatives are arrested.

Police said it is now becoming a trend that locals interfere by coming to the police station to fight with the officers and to demand the release of the suspects.

Cont Cynthia Mtsweni, the police spokesman, said police will not tolerate such behaviour and the guilty will be charged with defeating the ends of justice.

She added that a motorist was recently arrested for drinking and driving when later on his friends allegedly mobilised themselves, went to the police station and demanded his release.
