Secunda Police arrest three men suspected of burglary

Two adults and a youth were caught for burglary and being in possession of stolen property

SECUNDA – The Secunda Police arrested two adult men and a 17-year-old youth for burglary (housebreaking) and being in possession of stolen property on 12 February.

The men are aged 32 and 29.

According to Capt Bettina Zondo, spokesperson for the Secunda Police, the trio allegedly broke into a rented room and stole a DVD player, speakers and other electrical appliances.

“When the owner returned home, she realised that her room had been broken into. She reported the burglary to the police and then asked a relative at the Secunda taxi rank to look out for anyone selling electrical appliances at the taxi rank,” said Capt Zondo.

When the burglars tried to fence the stolen goods at the taxi rank, the police who were already searching for them, were notified and they rushed to the taxi rank where they apprehended the three suspects.

They will appear in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on 14 February.
