Search is on for plus size queens to make mark in the modelling world

Local designers others from other provinces will be showcasing their winter collections during the main event.

eMBALENHLE – The search for the “Thick Queens” have began in preparation for the “Plus Size Fashion Display” in June.

The auditions were recently held at eMbalenhle Sasol Club.

Models from the Mpumalanga region came in their numbers to audition.

The selection process is currently underway and successful models will be announced in two weeks time.

Organisers said the aim of the show is to make the public aware that modelling is not only for skinny models but also for plus size, to promote local talent in fashion designing, as well as promote local businesses that are keen to take part in the initiative.

Mr Nicholas Mashiane, founder, thanked the panel of judges, Londy Heavens, Katlego Rapulane, Mancha Mmatloa, Lehutjo Ramathe, Dries Koekemoer, Gulden, Nonkululeko Gumede, Simon Masilela and Thabang Serebane.

He said local designers from other provinces will also be showcasing their winter collections during the main event.
