Network does not only socialise, but helps needy learners

This initiative is funded from their own pockets and they are of the opinion that the community, not the government, can solve problems.

The Standerton Network recently donated a total of 40 new pairs of school shoes to learners of Lindilanga Primary School.

The network comprises of young professional men and women from Standerton who aim to make a positive difference in the community that played a part in their lives.

Most, if not all of the organisation’s members, are born and bred in Standerton and currently employed in various fields outside of Standerton.

The organisations focuses on helping the youth through education.

They helped learners last year who wished to apply to universities, with career choices and applications thereof.

“Instead of complaining and waiting for the government to do something, we must lead the way,” Mr Bonginkosi Tshabalala, co-founder, said.

“One cannot begin to understand the impoverished backgrounds these learners come from, yet they yearn for an education.

“Some learners go to school in winter without proper shoes due to various problems.”

This initiative is funded from their own pockets and they are of the opinion that the community, not the government, can solve problems.
