Locals to reach out to Treasure Hunters Care Centre in eMbalenhle for #MandelaDay2019
We are in the middle of a very impoverish community and several of the children in our care are orphans
SECUNDA – The workers are ready, the Wendy house has been ordered and things are slowly moving into place for our big Mandela Day outreach to the Treasure Hunters Care Centre in eMbalenhle.
Oregon Spur and His Way Family Church are central to the team who reaches out to the needy on Mandela Day each year.
Ridge Times, Lighthouse Church, schools, United Motors, numerous individuals and several more businesses came on board this year to realise the latest Mandela Day project – rebuilding the Treasure Hunters Care Centre in Ext 19.
According to Ms Susan Motsoeneng, principal and founder of this daycare centre, there is currently a shack and a small jungle gym on the premises.
“We are in the middle of a very impoverish community and several of the children in our care are orphans,” explained Ms Motsoeneng.

The school currently has 17 learners comprising of infants up to pre-school kids.
Many of them receive their only meal per day from this school.
Ms Motsoeneng, a qualified pre-school teacher, has two volunteers who help her look after the children.
There is no electricity or flushing toilets at the school and the only water source is a tap outside the classroom.
“We use a small coal stove to cook and to keep the building warm in the winter,” said Ms Motsoeneng.
The plan for Mandela Day is to import a Wendy house, upgrade the structure that is there, brighten up their playground and to entertain the kids.
However, a lot of money is needed to do this.
United Motors and Spur came up with an idea to raise money for the project by hosting a Christmas in July evening on 15 July.
There will be lots of prizes up for grabs, fun and games, pop-a-balloon and musical entertainment.
Visit the Spur that evening between 5pm and 9pm and support this worthy cause.
