Secunda Cluster takes action against poverty for #MandelaDay

Brig. Sifiso Cele passed by people living in poor conditions on the N17. He asked some of the members of the cluster to go and investigate. After they reported back to him, he decided to make this their Mandela Day project.

SECUNDA – ‘Action Against Poverty’ was the Secunda Cluster Station’s theme for their 67 minutes for Mandela Day.

Stations together with various stakeholders, built a three-bedroom house for the Mathibela family on a farm next to the N17.

This project follows after Cluster Commander, Brig. Sifiso Cele, spotted a house made from old rusted material and asked cluster members to investigate.

Capt Bettina Zondo said: “They do not have food and very little furniture. There were holes in the roof and the walls. We are happy to make a difference.”

When asked whether he is happy about his new house, Mr David Mathibela gave a broad smile and said that he is very happy.

The family also received blankets, groceries, furniture and clothes which were donated by local businesses.
