The 30-year-old Mr Atle Green died after a hit-and-run in Marais Street in Azalea on Saturday, 27 July.
According to Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police, two eyewitnesses saw the driver of a green Toyota Quantum hitting the man.
The driver allegedly ran him over twice and when the ambulance arrived, the pedestrian was already dead.
“The eyewitnesses also said the man stopped his car, got out and ran away,” Capt Nhlabathi said.
Standerton Police opened a case of culpable homicide and arrested Mr Donald Khoza (44) in Azalea on 27 July in connection with the crime.
Mr Khoza appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 July and was remanded in custody.
