Nine parkrunners set new times in Standerton

Event 372 was also a milestone celebration, with Pieter Swart completing his 250th parkrun and Gerhard and Rienie le Roux their 25th parkruns as volunteers.

Of the 77 finishers in Saturday’s parkrun, nine improved their personal best times.

They are youngster Snethemba Khumalo (20:08) who was also the first to finish the 5km course at the Riverpark, Nontokozo Tshabalala (32:53), Malehlohonolo Serame (36:50), Suzette Brits (39:39), Pre Sithole (40:46), Lorencia Urrena (42:16), Vusani Carol Vhangani (44:16), Elaine Bezuidenhout (45:22) and Shameema Essak (48:22).

Event 372 was also a milestone celebration, with Pieter Swart completing his 250th parkrun and Gerhard and Rienie le Roux their 25th parkruns as volunteers.

Several parkrunners donned tutus on Saturday to celebrate parkrun’s 22nd year. Khumalo was the first to pass by the finish line.

He was followed by Pieter Jansen van Vuuren (20:20), Parth Jayram (25:02), Gengan Govender (25:31, Wassie Rossouw (25:47), Nadia Pattullo (26:09), Pieter Grobbelaar (27:40), Daleney Grobbelaar (29:27) and Frans Vermaak (30:12).

The volunteers who made the event possible are Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Susan Laufs, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvia le Roux, Lydia Roets, Catherine (Rienie) le Roux, Gerhard le Roux, Jan Lombaard, Jennifer Naidoo, Nienke Swart, Petra van der Linde, Johannes Vosloo, Daniel Wright, and Renette de Sousa.
