Girl Child Seminar equips teen girls

The seminar was aimed at mentoring young girls in realising their potential.

EVANDER – Girls between 10 and 14 years old attended the Raising a Girl Child Seminar that was held at the Fortis Hotel recently.

The seminar was aimed at mentoring young girls in realising their potential.

Ms Miliswa Nhlapho, the founder, said: “We want to assist the girls in understanding how their bodies change in order for them to embrace and accept it.

“This is done in a fun and relaxed environment suited for young girls. Speakers adapt their presentations to fit in with the girls.

“The project will run on a monthly basis addressing a different theme each month.”

“In August the theme will be ‘appreciation and giving back’. Girls will be taught the value of appreciating what you have and also being conscious of those who are less fortunate.

“Currently the project is not funded and relies on donations from parents.

“We will appreciate support for this initiative to continue.”
