Eye surgeon dies in a head-on collision outside Delmas
Mr Willem Schoonbee, general manager of Mediclinic Highveld, described him as remarkable and humble man, a Christian who lived what he believed in, always friendly and a person who gave his all for his patients
TRICHARDT – Dr Johan van den Berg (53), a popular ophthalmologist who visited Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt regularly for many years, died in a motor accident on his way to Trichardt on Friday, 30 August.
Dr Van den Berg died early in the morning in a head-on collision with a truck about 10km from Delmas on the way to Trichardt.
This father of four lived in Pretoria and made use of a regular driver to take him to and from Trichardt.
Dr Van den Berg touched lives wherever he went and was held in high esteem by his peers and the hospital personnel.

“He will surely be missed by all his colleagues, friends, patients as well as the hospital personnel,” said Mr Schoonbee.
