Trichardt CPF want to take hands

A resident said that he is grateful for the fact that the CPF and GMM are fixing the roads in town, but is seems as if the project is running very slow.

TRICHARDT – The Community Police Forum (CPF) has actively been busy making a difference in town, but more challenges arose during a community meeting.

The committee called for a meeting in August, which was well attended.

Ms Ciska Jordaan, DA Counsellor, also attended the meeting and gave some clarity regarding the issues that residents and business owners brought to her attention.

Chairperson of the the CPF, Mr Clark van der Walt, said his wish for the CPF is for everyone to take hands and work together.

According to the police, house and business burglaries are a big concern.

Noise pollution, especially late at night, is still a worry for most residents.

Some street lamp poles that fell over onto residents palisades, were fixed by the Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM), but residents were unhappy with the way they were fixed, because some of the wires were open and other poles are already beginning to deteriorate.

A resident was grateful that the CPF and GMM are fixing the roads in town, but it seems as if the project is running very slow.

Mr Van der Walt assured attendees that the project is still up and running.

The committee wants Trichardt to be a better place, but they need more members who they can rely on.

People drinking in public, is a problem that seems to worsen.

The police also stated that drunks in the street attack female police officers.

One of the other projects that was very successful, is the cutting of long grass where criminals hide.

“It is every citizen’s responsibility to look out for each other. The police and CPF can not always be there.

The little things matter, such as reminding your neighbours to close their gates.

We have to be the eyes and ears of the police,” was Mr Van der Walt’s closing statement.
