Mpumalanga Premier leads march against gender-base violence in Ermelo
“We need to take action against these crime, we need to end the cycle of gender-base violence.”
The Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, along with the speaker of the legislature, Ms Busi Shiba led a walk against gender-based violence (GBV) in Ermelo on 5 October.
A large group of people armed with strongly-worded signs marched with them, from Wesselton Community Hall to Mpumalanga Stadium.
Ms Kgaugelo Ntini, GBV activist, shared her story and request the Mpumalanga Premier for programmess to protect women.
“We need to take action against these crimes, we need to end the cycle of gender-based violence.”
Another survivor of GBV, Mr McDonald Mailula, shared his traumatic experience with the crowd of people, and raised the issue of people laughing at men who have been abused.
Ms Refilwe has taken the decision to be the driving force behind the campaign against gender-based violence.
