Shop responsibly this Black Friday says MEC

Shoppers are warned not to fall prey to criminals during today’s ongoing Black Friday.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Ms Gabisile Shabalala, appealed to shoppers to avoid carrying large sums of cash, but to instead use cards payments for large purchases.

She added that criminals will also want to take advantage of the situation and swindle people out of their hard earned cash.

She says consumers should be extremely vigilant and cautious around shopping malls and places of entertainment so that they are not taken advantage of.

MEC Shabalala also appealed to motorist to use the road with great caution since traffic volumes are expected to increase due to Black Friday and the ongoing Mpumalanga Cultural Experince.

She says law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for errant drivers and recklessness will not be tolerated.

The MEC has appealed to motorists to avoid drinking while they are driving.

She said while people enjoy they must do so in responsibly and not endanger their lives and that of others.
