eMBALENHLE – Police are investigating the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Extension 15.
According to the police, the victim informed them that the suspect tried twice to rape her last year.
Police said although the victim could not recall the dates, she told them the suspect met up with her and a friend last year and urged them to accompany him to the shop.
On their way back from the shop, they had to stop at the suspect’s house to drop off the groceries.
The suspect allegedly sent the victim’s friend outside to pick grapes in the garden.
The suspect then allegedly began to undress the victim, but was interrupted when the friend returned too soon.
On another occasion when the victim and her friend visited the suspect, he also tried to rape her.
He allegedly succeeded in raping the girl recently when she was again at the suspect’s home.
The victim screamed for help and her friend came to see what was happening and the suspect then stopped.
No arrest has yet been made.
