Child dies in accident between Leandra and Delmas

LEANDRA – A small child of about four years old died in an accident on the R50 road between Leandra and Delmas this afternoon, 29 January.
The child was travelling with four adults in a sedan when it crashed into an oncoming truck with a trailer.
The accident happened on the Delmas side about 1km past the R580 turn off at about 2.40pm.
The adults in the vehicle sustained injuries varying between minor to serious. The provincial EMS took them to hospital.
Emergency services on the scene included Delmas Police, ER24 ambulances, the provincial traffic department and the local fire brigade.
The road will be closed for some time while the police’s forensic investigators are on the scene.
