#LeaveOurKidsAlone to take civil action against CSE in schools
Several primary schools in the area have already indicated that they will not allow CSE in their curricula.
SECUNDA – The #LeaveOurKidsAlone (Loka) movement in South Africa plans a nation-wide gathering against Comprehensive Sexuality Education on 13 February.
Marches and public display against CSE are planned in most of the municipalities in the country, including here in the Govan Mbeki municipal area, on that day.
According to local activist, Ms Michelle Booyzen, a march is planned in Secunda.
“We specifically want to raise our concerns on that day when President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver his State of the Nation Address (Sona).”
The Department of Basic Education has published in November last year its new scripted lessons plans which will be used as part of its pilot phase on sexual education.
The department said that during teaching and learning time, educators are guided by scripted lessons plans that empower them to discuss topics that could otherwise be found to be uncomfortable.
The Stop CSE organisation states on its website www.comprehensivesexualityeducation.org, that Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is one of the greatest assaults on the health and innocence of children.
“This is because unlike traditional sex education, comprehensive sexuality education is highly explicit and promotes promiscuity and high-risk sexual behaviours to children as healthy and normal.
“CSE programs have an almost obsessive focus on teaching children how to obtain sexual pleasure in various ways. Yet, ironically, comprehensive sexuality education programs are anything but comprehensive as they fail to teach children about all of the emotional, psychological and physical health risks of promiscuous sexual activity. The ultimate goal of CSE is to change the sexual and gender norms of society”.
The organisation identified harmful elements in the CSE curricula, claiming CSE sexualises children, teaches kids to consent to sex, normalises anal and oral sex and promotes sexual pleasure, amongst other things.
Ms Booyzen added that CSE undermines traditional values and and beliefs, as well as parental rights.
Kids in Grade 7 (12-year-old) will hear they must wear condoms to prevent pregnancy, and learn about masturbation and being sexually active.
Since CSE has been in the South African shool curriculum since 2000, there are already material in texts books that makes many parents’ hair stand up.
For instance, in the current Grade 4 text book, the learners are asked if sex with a virgin or child is a cure for HIV. They are also taught about same sex relationships.

Ms Booyzen still needs to confirm the venue and route for the march, but said participants should ready themselves for 2.30pm. The march will begin at 3pm.
