Care centre in Evander needs household items and donations

Support pastor and teacher to help abandoned children

EVANDER – Ms Cordelia Nkambule, pastor of Fire of God Ministries and teacher at Osizweni Secondary School, saw the need for a care centre many years ago.

She fulfilled her passion and opened one in Evander.

Ms Nkambule was a teacher at Lindile Secondary School in Ermelo and it was there that she saw how many children are abandoned and abused.

“Some of them had no food or place to live, so I reached out to them,” she said.

She began giving food to learners at the school and taking care of them in whichever way she could.

She has a heart for vulnerable children and decided to open a care-centre.

There are currently six children in her care at St Joseph Children and Youth Care Centre and Ms Nkambule is totally dependent on donations.

Her salary at the school is not enough to support all the children, but she cannot bear to see them hungry and living on the streets.

Ms Nkambule grew up in Ermelo and studied to become a teacher after she matriculated.

She later studied to become a pastor and began her own ministry 12 years ago.

She teaches life orientation and technology and enjoys reading the Bible or doing sports such as aerobics when she is not at the school or taking care of the foster children.

Ms Nkambule has two workers at the care centre who help to take care of the children.

The centre is in great need of food, clothes, playing equipment like swings for the children to play outside, school uniforms, stationery, bedding and basically anything used in a normal household.

Those who are interested in supporting the care centre in any way, can contact Ms Nkambule at 073 057 6211.
