Crime in Bethal decreases after more patrols
Community policing forum invites people to get involved
BETHAL – Members of the community policing forum (CPF) in Bethal held their first quarterly community meeting on Thursday, 30 January at Laerskool HM Swart.
W/O Riaan Smit, spokesman for Bethal Police, told the community about the crime tendencies of the past three months.
Residents at the meeting said the crime decreased since more active patrols were done in most of the sectors of Bethal.
Burglaries at houses decreased with 38 per cent from 2018 to 2019, burglaries at businesses decreased with 45 per cent and theft out of vehicles deceased with 52 per cent.
The executive committee of the CPF thanked everyone for playing a role in the CPF’s success and encouraged people to become actively involved and take back their neighbourhoods.
The committee also specifically thanked Sectors 1,2,3, 5 and 7.
