Officers from Afri Guard (Pty) Ltd found a body at the railway station in Standerton early on 13 February.
According to Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police, the man sustained injuries to his hands and had blood on his face.
“The man’s stomach showed burn wounds that could have been made with an iron,” Capt Nhlabathi said.
Police could not confirm the name of the deceased.
An inquest docket was opened and police are waiting for the post mortem results.
