PSiRA closes Sniper, but ‘Generaal’ says he packed up shop for workers safety

BETHAL – Sniper Protection Services’ doors are closed.
The South African Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) announced in a press statement on 6 February that the registration of Sniper Protection Services and its director, Mr Walter Stander, has been suspended for alleged improper conduct.
Ms Siziwe Zuma, spokesman for PSIRA, said in the press release that the Authority has suspended all the operations of this security service provider and is also considering withdrawing Mr Stander’s registration.

He stated that his workers had been intimidated and were in danger from EFF members at Charl Cilliers, and that the Bethal community has labelled him a murderer.
Mr Stander was allegedly assaulted late in January by what he claimed was a group of white men. An assault case has not yet been opened at the police.
Mr Stander however, appeared in court in connection with assault on a former worker, Mr Adriaan Keyser (19).
Mr Stander allegedly shocked Mr Keyser with a taser gun because the youngster had been asleep on his post. A video of this incident was circulated on social media.
The case was postponed to 6 March.
