Rescue workers use Jaws of Life to free truck driver in accident near Matla
The driver apparently lost control over the loaded truck and it ploughed into a corn field.
LEANDRA – Rescue workers made use of the Jaws of Life to free a driver from the cab of an overturned coal truck this afternoon, 20 March.
The accident happened at about 3pm on the R580 between Matla Power Station and Delmas, about 3km from where the road intersects with the Leandra/Ogies road.
The driver apparently lost control over the loaded truck and it ploughed into a corn field.
The emergency workers from the Govan Mbeki municipal fire brigade freed the trapped driver from the cab and MavCorp ambulance services rushed him to hospital.
The man sustained moderate injuries.
