A farmer in the Platrand-area, who contacted the Standerton Advertiser early in January about a delay in electricity connections to the houses of his workers, was visited by an Eskom-subcontractor on Sunday, 22 March at about 11am.
The newspaper originally investigated by making numerous phone calls and sending e-mails to the Eskom corporate department, as well as one to the media desk.
No reply was received, but a source said on Monday, 23 March that forms were delivered to the homestead, asking that it be filled in.
The forms would have been collected last Monday.
Eskom, in conjunction with the Lekwa Municipality, manage the laying of power lines and/or a cable to the existing infrastructure.
According to information, the workers were promised electrical supply to their homes as far back as March last year and an ANC-councillor concurred with the national initiative.
