Terra Nova Retirement Village residents help those in need

“People are suffering; we as residents felt it would be better to give what we have to those who need it more.”

TRICHARDT – Residents of Terra Nova Retirement Village have a vegetable garden which provides food to the retired residents.

Once a week the vegetables are harvested and made available to the residents. Due to the fight against Covid-19 and many people facing hunger due to financial difficulty, the residents decided to hand over their weekly harvest to those who are more in need.

Mr Japie Pretorius and Mr Carl Greyling, retired residents who run and manage the vegetable garden, said that the residents came together to help harvest the vegetables. They also collected canned food and raised some money.

“People are suffering; we as residents felt it would be better to give what we have to those who need it more,” said Mr Greyling.

All that was collected by the residents was then handed over to Pastor Jackie van Dyk of the Secunda Bikers Church.

Past Van Dyk said that they are currently helping 17 families.

The residents of Terra Nova Retirement Village are thanked for their contribution and generosity.
