Sasol hands over amenities for the fight against Covid-19
"I understand that Sasol has not spent less then R 4.5 million to this cause. This of course excludes the overheads and other costs," said Mpumalanga Health MEC, Ms Sasekani Manzini. With the help of Osizweni, Sasol has given three vehicles, linen, blankets, and portable beds to assist with the screening and testing of people for the Covid-19 virus.

EVANDER- Sasol has decided to go beyond the provisions of their Social Labour Plan (SLP) and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme by providing the Mpumalanga Department of Health with vehicles and data capturers for a particular period, specifically for the department’s Covid-19 initiatives.
The hand over event was held at the Evander Hospital today, 30 April.
“I understand that Sasol has not spent less then R 4.5 million to this cause. This of course excludes the overheads and other costs,” said Mpumalanga Health MEC, Ms Sasekani Manzini.
With the help of Osizweni, Sasol has given three vehicles, linen, blankets, and portable beds to assist with the screening and testing of people for the Covid-19 virus.
They have also assigned data-capturers to assist with the screening and testing of the region.
This donation will intensify the fight against this virus and will help improve the testing and screening exercise, the quarantine and isolation of identified cases and contacts.

“We are appealing to the people of this province to abide by the regulations of the national lockdown. We need our fellow compatriots to understand that this lockdown, and strict application thereof, is for their own safety.” said Ms Manzini
“I think that from a Sasol point of view, as soon as this pandemic started, we already jumped into action. Because we have international operations we already saw and understood what was going to happen, because of whats happening in other countries. We have also provided accommodation to the soldiers from the SANDF.” said Mr Simon Baloyi, Senior Vice President of Sasol Secunda.
Sasol has produced over 100 000 litres of sanitisers nationwide and 14 000 litres of sanitisers to the police, hospitals, the defence force and the Sasol employees, according to Mr Baloyi.
“For us it’s a continuation of the support, and working side by side with government to firstly preserve the lives of our people. We have to do everything it takes to preserve the lives of our people so that we could overcome this virus and be made stronger on the other side,” said Mr Baloyi.
“It is indeed a wonderful privilege and honour for me to be here today. Let me appreciate Sasol for this important milestone of donating linen, crockery, hospital beds, air conditioners, hand sanitisers and other amenities to the Department of Health, Gert Sibande District to be particular,” Ms Manzini concluded.
