Command Council supports and monitors school management teams in preparation for re-opening of schools

Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) urges the public to continue to take precautionary measures in line with the government regulations regarding the fight against the Covid-19.

District Executive Mayor, councillor Muzi Chirwa in his capacity as the Chairperson of the District Covid-19 Command Council, led a screening and testing campaign of School Management Teams (SMTs) at the Siphumelele Centre in Elukwatini on Monday 18 May.

The SMTs members took turns and gathered in groups of less than 50 people to be tested and screened for the Covid-19 as part of their first day of return since the declaration of the national lockdown.

This follows a directive by the DCC that all SMTs within the district be supported and monitored to ensure smooth operations as the SMTs reopened.

Gert Sibande District Municipality Mayor, councillor Muzi Chirwa, along with a delegation, monitor the processes.

SMTs are responsible for planning the timetables and strategise on how to receive the rest of the teachers and support staff in preparation for the re-opening of schools.
