WATCH: Solly vents about rubbish dumped on his land
Booze bottles and car parts are among the items dumped in Solly’s Quarry

TRICHARDT- Mr Solly Moolla, a local businessman, recently turned to social media to voice his frustration with residents who dump rubbish on his land.
He expressed his concerned on a video he took of the land he calls Solly’s Quarry.
“This happened because it is easier for people to throw their rubbish on my land, rather than take it to the rubbish dump. They don’t realise Solly’s Quarry is actually farm area,” said Mr Moolla.
The garbage dumped on the site include empty booze bottles, car parts, regular household refuse and more.
The dumped rubbish is not just unhygienic; it is also hazardous to livestock grazing in the area.
“The sheep tend to eat some of the rubbish. They would then get sick and later die due to eating the rubbish,” said Mr. Moolla.
“People should not throw their rubbish in the green strip areas. Many blame the people scavenging through garbage bags, but who throws away car parts in a garbage bag?
If the municipality does not pick up your garbage bags, please take it back into your yard until the next time they come to pick it up.
This will also lessen the temptation of garbage bag diggers. The municipality will not clean up the rubbish dumped this way because they don’t have the staff to do so” said Ms Chamberlain, DA councillor.
