Man dies at Shondoni Colliery Mine

Sasol management extend condolences to family

SECUNDA – Sasol confirmed that a man died at its Shondoni Colliery Mine on Monday, 1 June.

According to Mr Alex Anderson, Head of Group Media Relations of Sasol, at about 3.30pm on Monday, Mr Obert General Khoza, a roof belt operator, died when ground fell on him during routine charging up operations. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene immediately and paramedics tried to resuscitate him.

Mr Khoza is survived by his wife, Ms Delisile Dladla and their children.

Mr Anderson said Sasol is providing the necessary support and counselling to the family and colleagues of the deceased during this difficult period.

“We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the Khoza family,” said Mr Anderson.

“Sasol remains committed to the safety and health of its employees, community and the environment.”
