Deputy Minister visits Gert Sibande College in Standerton

The entrance at both the Standerton-campus and the Skills Academy and Artisan Development Centre out on the Leandra Road were sufficiently manned to check visitors.

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, visited Gert Sibande TVET College on Tuesday, 9 June to assess their readiness for reopening.

In a full-packed programme, Mt Buti Manamela, also addressed the audience at the Standerton-campus, where a variety of items such as safety protocol, the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on higher institutions and online learning were discussed.

The entrance at both the Standerton-campus and the Skills Academy and Artisan Development Centre out on the Leandra Road were sufficiently manned to check visitors.

A checklist had to be completed where only the question whether you have travelled abroad or between provinces, was deemed unnecessary.

Nurses from the Department of Health, waiting for the arrival of the minister, also checked the temperatures of any visitors.

Mr Manamela later inspected the mask production project at the academy which was in full readiness at 11am.

The floors inside the centre and toilets testified to thorough planning.
