TP Stratten Primary School says goodbye to Ms Telanie Flemming
But before she exchanged the cold, foggy mornings of the Highveld winter for long walks on the beach with her husband of 38 years, Mr Herman Flemming, and sipping on a glass of good wine at sunset, she took the time to reflect back at what she experienced at T.P. Stratten.
EVANDER- TP Stratten Primary School said goodbye to teacher and deputy principal, Ms Telanie Flemming who is retiring after 28 years of being part of the school.
She left the school on 29 May. But before she exchanged the cold, foggy mornings of the Highveld winter for long walks on the beach with her husband of 38 years, Mr Herman Flemming, and sipping on a glass of good wine at sunset, she took the time to reflect back at what she experienced at T.P. Stratten.
“The principal and staff are very child-oriented, no one ever hesitated to hug or to give help to a child in need. Every teacher, child and worker is cherished for their contribution to the unique culture of the school. Everyone gets treated equally. I regard it as an honour to have been a part of TP Stratten Primary School and will forever hold dear the friendships and life experiences I had here,” said Ms Flemming.
Staying true to form of always wanting and doing what is best for the school that she has been a part of for so long, Ms Flemming left the school with her prayer for T.P. Stratten: “That the school will continue to build on its rich traditions and with the current creative initiatives, continue to build a solid foundation for every learner. And that the Lord will grant the staff the necessary wisdom and insight to let TP Stratten continue to go from strength to strength.”
Eventhough she closed up her old classroom door behind her, she still has so much wisdom and advice to share.
To the teachers, her message was: “Believe in yourself and trust in the Lord. Know your own capabilities and accept challenges to continue to maintain the school’s current high standards. And always offer your help, I believe that the more you have to do, the more you get done.”
Ms Flemming told the learners: “Work hard. Opportunities are not a right, but a responsibility. Only those who constantly try their best at everything they do, shall reach their goal and become successful.”
Ms Flemming touched so many lives, not only those whom she taught but also those with whom she worked.
“For the school it is a great loss of an incredible woman, so this is farewell but definitely not goodbye, as you will forever be a part of the TPS family.” said Ms Sunell Visser, a Grade 4 teacher.
