Ntokozo Mthembu’s vision is to turn illegal dumpsite into sport and entertainment park

He said this can be an economic boost to the local economy and can create jobs for young people.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Ntokozo Mthembu and his team initiated a project of clearing and cleaning up the illegal dumping site in Extension 5.

They intend to convert this illegal dump into a proper park.

Mr Mthembu said his vision is to make this spot an entertainment centre which will have a car wash service, an outdoor gym, a big screen television and other services.

He said this can be an economic boost to the local economy and can create jobs for young people.

“I leased a portion of land between Ext 4 and 5 with the aim of establishing a park where employment opportunities can be created.

“I have however, noted that the abandoned sites are used for illegal purposes and as a member of the CPF I have seen such when patrolling at night.

“We are going to change that.”

Mr Mthembu also aims to educate people about the importance of protecting the environment.

He said illegally dumped waste may contain dangerous objects such as metal sheets, nails and sharp objects which can cause injuries.

He said this waste can also contain chemicals and dust that can harm the health of anyone who lives nearby or visits the area.

“Some illegally dumped waste can smell and attract rats, insects and other vermin that are a risk to people’s health.

“Preventing illegal waste dumping creates a sustainable future where the health and well-being of communities are protected for future generations.”

Mr Mthembu also wants to encourage the youth to be innovative and not to wait for the government.

He said the youth must think outside the box and try means to develop communities and creating businesses.

He said Covid-19 will harm the economy and it is time for the youth to create their own legal means of income.
