Mr Vusi Dlamini from Lekwa released on R2 000 bail after court appearance today
The suspect was arrested on Friday, 7 August after the protests in connection with a contravention of the Disaster Management Act of 2000.

The communications officer of the Standerton Police, W/O Nkosinati Khanyile, confirmed this afternoon that Mr Vusi Dlamini, employee of the Lekwa Municipality, appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today.
According to W/O Khanyile, bail was set at R2 000.
The suspect was arrested on Friday, 7 August after the protests in connection with a contravention of the Disaster Management Act of 2000.
The next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 August.
9 August 2020 – Lekwa-employee apprehended on Friday after protests
The communications officer of the Standerton Police confirmed over the weekend that an employee of the Lekwa Municipality was arrested in connection with contravention of the Disaster Management Act of 2000.
The Standerton Advertiser received a tip-off today about alleged pressure put on the police to release the individual.
Upon investigation, a small group was seen outside the Standerton Police Station.
The suspect is according to information expected to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 10 August.
The name of the suspect can only be given after his court appearance.
