The same year saw him going on air for the first time during Sandile’s Midday Show on Ligwa FM.

Ermelo born, Luvuyo Khaba aslo known as Mavuthela (19) has been nominated for Best Radio Presenter in the Mzanzi Art and Media Competition.

He is currently the host of Soulful Sunday Showers on Ligwa FM (101.3-101.9Mhz).

Luvuyo said he vividly remembers when his love for radio began, he was 10-years-old.

“On Sunday mornings I would listen to Ukhozi FM where a platform was created for young children to co-host the show.

“I was reserved and shy and because of this, never thought I would be able to follow a career in broadcast media.”

He, however, decided he had to overcome his fears and social anxieties that were holding him back, should he wish to one day become a radio presenter.

Starting this journey, he arranged a meet and greet with the Ligwa FM Ermelo presenters in 2016 and said he drew a lot of inspiration from them.

The same year saw him going on air for the first time during Sandile’s Midday Show on Ligwa FM.

The presenter allowed him a few minutes of air-time, which Luvuyo recalls, was a special moment for him.
