Evander Police spokesman leaves to focus on his music business

Being a DJ was a fun hobby at first, but later developed into a well-honed skill. His wife Eileen is his partner in Grimmies Music and Photography.

EVANDER – W/O Graham Grimsdell will miss his community projects and his fellow brothers in blue the most.

He waved the police farewell on 31 October after almost 27 years in service.

He was the communication officer at Evander Police Station.

“I am definitely not retiring, but will now focus on our entertainment business,” said the 46-year-old who is also known for his ability to keep people going on the dance floor.

W/O Grimsdell is home-grown. He grew up in Leandra and joined the police in 1993 right out of school.

Besides working for a year in Ermelo and two years in Secunda, he spent his entire police career in Evander where he served in various positions – from Community Policing Officer to detective services.

“I found my niche in working with the community, especially the kids.

“We had a junior policing project and it was amazing how much a policeman can achieve with the youth.

“I always wanted to be a policeman, even as a young child I saw police work as the ultimate job.”

W/O Grimsdell’s other passion is making music.

Being a DJ was a fun hobby at first, but later developed into a well-honed skill.

His wife Eileen is his partner in Grimmies Music and Photography.

She perfected her photography skills throughout the years and the couple is now the complete package for making an event a magical memory.

With both kids out of school, W/O Grimsdell took the leap to leave the police and focus entirely on Grimmies.

“I have several new projects planned that will create a wider spectrum of our services.

“I see this as a chance to become even more creative.”

The Grimsdells do not plan on moving away from Evander.

“This has been our community for all these years and it was a privilege for me to serve them.

“We love this place,’ W/O Grimsdell concluded.
